During the quiet lull between the Christmas holiday and the start of the new year, I did some clearing out of my jewelry collection. I don’t wear my real fine jewelry nearly enough as I was always afraid I would lose sentimental pieces. However, it was doing me no good being tucked away, so in the new year, I vowed to wear the gifts others had given me and the pieces I bought myself more often.
Until recently, I mainly wore sterling silver and white gold jewelry. I had a few gold rings and necklaces, but as my preference lately leaned more towards gold jewelry, I noticed I had gaps in my gold jewelry that needed to be filled. Enter Oma the Label. It is a brand I have had my eye on for a while. A few weeks ago, I discovered they were having a huge sale, and given that it was my birth month, I decided to gift myself some Oma pieces.
Oma the Label is a Black, women-owned independent jewelry brand founded by Neumi Anekhe. She is a fashion stylist based in New York working to create more POC representation in the fashion industry. Her goal with Oma the Label was to “challenge industry standards while creating quality pieces that become staples in anyone’s wardrobe” (Oma the Label). That is exactly why I turned to them, to acquire my staple gold pieces.
Even though there were so many beautiful pieces, I made sure to shop with intention and get pieces that would seamlessly fit into my lifestyle and fit my person style. Here was my list while perusing the website:
- Gold Hoops- I had smaller, more formal-looking pairs, but I wanted a classic hoop I would wear every day.
- Gold Rings- I love rings, and I had two dainty gold rings and wanted more statement rings.
- Gold Necklaces- Like my gold rings, my necklaces were dainty, and I wanted more chunkier pieces.
- Gold Bracelets- I love arm candy, and while I had plenty of sterling silver bracelets, I was lacking in this department when it came to my gold jewelry.
What Did I Get?
Dey Hoops 35 MM

Oslo Hopos- Big

Regnbue Earrings

Ojo Necklace

Heri Chain-40 CM

The Lovelyn Choker

The Keylin Bracelet

The Suwa Bangle

Simone Ring

Haddy Ring

Everything I purchased was marked on sale between $10-20! All of the jewelry is 18k gold plated over stainless steel or brass. They have a nice weight to them and feel very sturdy to withstand everyday wear. I have worn most of the jewelry already and am very happy I chose Oma the Label. I’ve gotten many compliments too!
Not pictured: Amebo bracelet, latter Bangle, and Kano earrings. These items are likely sold out.
